I am delighted, humbled and honored to have been elected as the president of the Minneapolis Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. I am truly thrilled about serving as your president, and delighted to work with this fabulous group of women.
Our chapter is filled with mothers who are excited, enthusiastic and passionate about Jack and Jill. This is evidenced by having three mothers serving on Regional Committees (Competitions, Time and Place and Correspondence). In addition, I will serve as the National Nominating Committee Chair for the upcoming National Convention. These commitments demonstrate how dedicated and devoted our mothers are to the Mighty Mid-Western Region.
Last year we had two major accomplishments: 1) We held our fundraising signature event hosting the 19th Annual Rites of Passage Program and 2) We invited eleven new mother members to join our chapter. Whew! A lot of work in one program year, but we did it! As we continue to grow and move forward, I am excited about the goals of our chapter for the 2016-2017 program year.
The theme for the year, Engagement, Efficiency and Community Centered (EE+C) was derived from our mother’s voices being heard during the Mother’s Retreat last May. The visual “wheel” exercise allowed the Mothers to provide feedback in a positive manner. As a result EE+C was born, and I will focus on those initiatives for the chapter:
- Foster High Engagement by delivering quality programming to inspire active and enthusiastic mother, child and family participation
- Operate Efficiently by conducting chapter business in an efficient manner, appropriately balancing speed, quality and fun
- Positively impact the greater Community by supporting local, regional and national goals with creative and effective partnerships and events
The chapter will also focus on 5-Star Excellence by implementing and submitting documentation to support achieving excellence in the following categories: Membership, Programming, Chapter Operations, Financial and Community Service/Philanthropy.
Our children come first and we will always strive to continue to meet the Regional guidelines and the National Program Thrust. As member of the Minneapolis Chapter for the past nine years, I have seen tremendous growth in our chapter, our children and monthly activities. As we focus on our programming and children’s activities, I am hopeful that we embrace the National Theme, The Power to Make a Difference, and support our National partners: the Children’s Defense Fund, the Boys and Girls Club of America, and the March of Dimes.
Finally, I would like to welcome our eight new mothers to our Jack and Jill family and I am positive your experiences will be as wonderful and encouraging as mine have been. I also would like to thank my Executive Board for volunteering to serve, giving of your many talents and providing me with guidance and counseling for our chapter.
Let’s make it a great programming year!
Yours In Service,
Minneapolis President Vanessa Ware 2015-2018
